Discovering Unique Towns For Weekend Getaways AZ

When it comes to the greater Southwest area of the United States, there is a lot of beautiful scenery. In addition, there are some great and unique towns which offer inexpensive and fun Weekend Getaways AZ. In some cases, these towns are surrounded by canyons and cliffs. While this is the case, there is also a great deal of hiking, biking, camping, fishing and swimming that can be found in different areas of the state.

In fact, there are seven areas in particular in the state in which residents and tourists tend to visit on a regular basis. These include, Jerome, Lake Havasu, the Grand Canyon, Bisbee, Flagstaff, Lake Powell and Sedona. All of which are only a few hours apart from one another.

When it comes to Sedona, it is rumored to be a spiritual hot spot with regards to healing. As such, there are a number of holistic professionals living and providing services in the area. Whether getting a hot stone massage, soaking in a hot mineral spring or getting a full treatment at a local resort and spa, Sedona has a lot to offer. In addition the area is surrounded by breathtaking cliffs which tend to glimmer and shine at sunset and dawn.

On the other hand, Lake Powell which borders Utah is one of the few areas which offers boating, fishing and swimming. As the area can be quite busy in Spring and Summer months, it is often advised that reservations be made well in advance at campgrounds and hotels in the area. Although, if visiting in Fall or Winter, visitors will often find a great deal of accommodations available on a first come, first serve basis.

Flagstaff offers a mountain town experience although the area has been going through a redevelopment process and has grown a great deal in population over the last decade. In addition, a number of new upscale stores and restaurants now grace the outskirts. Whereas, the quaint downtown area still thrives with a number of local bars, eateries, museums and hot spots.

Bisbee, Arizona plays home to a little known artist colony and tourist area just off I-10. The town is smaller than Flagstaff though still big enough to entertain visitors. When looking for lodging, it is often advised that guests check out the Copper Queen Hotel, a hotel where John Wayne once stayed on a regular basis.

Most everyone has heard of the song, or played the game London Bridge at one time or another. While the bridge may be falling down in the game, it is standing proud and tall in Lake Havasu, Arizona. For, London Bridge was moved piece by piece from London to Arizona in the mid-late 1960s.

An even lesser known area than Bisbee is Jerome, which is a small town located in the Black Hills in the county of Yavapai. Jerome is a town that offers narrow alleyways, artistic culture and a number of eateries. While the town may not offer all the conveniences of Flagstaff, it is rumored to be haunted and offers ghost hunting trips which cover local hotels and old buildings.
