Most tour operators will tell you what you should do when you decide to climb a mountain. Very few you will alert you to the things that you should avoid before and during the challenge. You have to have a good body shape and in good health, for you to take part in the challenge. If you if you fail to take care of certain things you will end up suffering extraneous body harm when al, you were looking for is fun. Many people have lost their lives when in the process of this activity. You do not want to be counted among this group. For this reason, here are a few things you should avoid when you are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Plan your route effectively. If you can do it through the longest route the better. This will give your body enough time to acclimatize with the mountain area weather. Avoid having the wrong gear for your hike. This is an active activity and that being so, it is crucial to have the right wear for the exercise. You should be aware that this expedition will expose you to extraordinary weather conditions. Make sure that you have at least a pair of boots, a raincoat, and insulated jacket.

You do not need to pack a lot of items for the hike. Just ensure that you pack only the essentials. Most of the other necessary accessories such as sleeping bags will be provided by the tour operator. This will make it easy for you to navigate. It will also ease the work of porters who are tasked with moving your camp to the next site.

Operators that are not members of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project are highly discouraged. They will end up overcharging you and fail to give you the required service. Some of them in addition to having incompetent tour guides will also provide you with poor quality food and substandard accessories.

Failure to eat and drink enough makes it difficult for your body to acclimatize and recover. Hiking requires at least 4-6 hrs of increasing higher elevations. This results to your body burning so many calories for it to function. It is important to ensure that you take at least four liters of water every day of your hiking.
