How Snowmobiles And Snowmobile Trail Began

By Shirley Hughes

In the very long history of how human kind walked the earth, there are lots of things that people did for adventure. Humanity, by nature, is a very curious race. For ages, they have traveled around the world to look for the unknown and discover the wonders that the world may hold in its possession. Thus this sort of action had led to various things being made.

The passion of travel came with many dangers. The environment itself is an enemy as it could cause the body to break down due to extreme cold or extreme heat. Thus, man sought a way to make it across the harsh deserts and cold mountains that was spread across the world. A solution to this problem was the vehicle. A snow mobile was one of these and Allegan County snowmobile trail is way is to secure that the path is safe.

Before an actual snow mobile was made for mass production, many different prototypes were made. These prototypes were usually made of different parts from different kinds of vehicles. It also contained engines from those as well, since making new parts was a difficult task for an experimental machine. Through this, many others were made.

Back in the past, people and cars did not have automatic heaters to heat up during a trip. So did the prototypes. The travel through snowy areas was made more dangerous as some water would freeze over and make entire roads very slippery and accident prone. Thus the new models had been made with the intention of all terrain.

The ability of carry two people, instead of one, had come in the 20th century. This made great strides as more cargo could be load in place of a person or a person could both through the thick ice. The 20th century also saw the making of highly sophisticated engine systems that helped mobiles go further.

The innovation of it could not be given to singular inventor though, as many had given contributions to its creation. The many parts that were used were made and tested by different people until a mainstream model was made but that was long after various prototypes were introduced. Looking at it, it has a similar growth patter to how planes and cars were developed in their time period.

The diversity of Americas regions had given birth to different states trying to create their own version of a snow mobile. The states that are up north and would often experience harsher winters than others had made prototypes out of tractor parts and skies. These were then an engine from a car to make it run.

Speaking of cold regions, Boston was one of the states that had manufactured and released a mainstream version. The motor sleigh was an item that was shown to public eyes in 1905. The thing could run but it was too small for adults to ride on and was manly made for the use of children.

The vehicular developments had varied over the years. Many had come and gone, while others were further polished and made it into the mainstream. The appeal and usefulness of it has been around for many years and will continue to for more.
