When planning a trip for the whole family, including the children, it is best to be as prepared as possible for any eventuality. It all depends on where the intended trip will be such as jetting off to Disney World or going on an outdoor adventure.

Then there are others that prefer a trip into the wilds and will pack up for five days or so and do some communing with nature. From preparing for every meal to mosquito bites, one will want to take with one all that one can to ease the way.

This becomes tricky especially if having to take into account everyone's varying tastes especially if kids are involved. It is best to keep ingredients down to a minimum especially if having to walk some distance on any one of the days of the trip. As a parent one just knows what one's children likes to eat and drink so it makes it that much easier when having to plan meals for every mealtime.

It can be difficult in deciding what meals to serve especially if kids come along. They essentially enjoy plain foods and with this in mind, meals such as spaghetti with a napoletana sauce can served to provide nutrition for the entire group. This works well as spaghetti is relatively light weight and plenty of it can be packed in its dry form.

It is essential that one sit down and prepare a menu for each and every meal that will be served for the duration of the trip. This means preparing for three meals a day namely, breakfast, lunch and supper. If resources are scarce along the way then all essential ingredients and foodstuffs must be packed such as powdered milk to have with cereal as well as dried fruit for snacks.

Another item that is essential to a good trip with the family is the medicine kit. If some are on chronic medication then one will want to ensure that this is packed for the duration of the trip. For other eventualities which are always bound to happen, provisions must be made for minor burns, headaches, coughing and itchiness from mosquito bites.

Allergic reactions may also occur by rubbing and brushing against plant life such as poison ivy. It is best to be prepared for this and to have an ointment with one in case this happens. All of these items do take up space and one must pack them in a compartment of their own for easy finding and application.

If going on hiking trip it is best to cater for any eventuality. Being prepared and having catered for all brings peace of mind. It lends to a successful trip rather than one that was not enjoyed entirely because of bad preparation.
