Rules For A Successful Stay At Dog Friendly Hotels

By Melissa Mitchell

Some people like traveling to other places to have a vacation but were unsure if they can bring along pets with them. There is no one they trust to leave them behind with even those who are offering services in pet sitting. Bringing their pets may be essential also if the travel was meant for joining competitions with them in that location.

Most places though do not allow pets to be in their premises which makes finding for a place to stay is difficult than traveling without them. But exceptions are there though like the Port Aransas dog friendly hotels which allows dogs to stay in with their owner. But remember these rules for a successful stay at hotels on Port Aransas, TX and other places.

There are some things you must do before going such as planning ahead, not just for yourself but for your animal companion too. Make sure they have identification tags fastened securely on their collar with the right information to contact if you got separated. It would be a great time to them microchipped if they were not yet.

When making reservations, inform the hotel about bringing your dog along with you and confirm what are their policies regarding this. Each hotel follow different policies with even those allowing them have certain restrictions that must be followed. These restrictions include their breed, number of dogs and size limitation at their place.

Request for a ground floor room because it would help in avoiding other guests from getting disturbed by the movement of your dog. Carrying your things in or out would be easier also including going out for letting them relieve themselves. Request a room away from their elevator if they bark at noises to prevent them from being stressed.

Check the inside of the room first before you let your pet come in to make sure that nothing could hurt him. There might be things left behind by the previous occupants or the housekeeping which are not safe for their health. Place everything that they can damage away from their reach including those they may chew and choke on.

Some places require to crate dogs that would be left behind the room when you go out but even if they do not have this requirement, it is better to do so. This will prevent them from running out the door when someone mistakenly opens it or housekeeping comes in to clean. Leaving the television open is an option to help mask outside noises.

Remember bringing their toys along also so they can chew on something and would help in getting them distracted for the day. They will feel at home also with these toys although prevent them from chewing other items that are not allowed. Use the available storage spaces including the bathroom even when closed.

Clean after those messes they would make inside the hotel, room and even outside specially when relieving themselves. Pick up the poop and properly throw them at the designated receptacles outside. When going out without them, leave contact details at the lobby in case something happens.
