Understanding The History Behind An Astrological Consultation

By Dorothy Edwards

When it comes to Astrology, there are several options when it comes to acquiring a reading. In addition, there are several different forms of readings. For example, when getting an Astrological Consultation, it is important to know whether the reader is reading from a Western, Hindu, Chinese or East Asian perspective.

As most anyone whom has completed an online astrology reading or requested one through email knows, the items requested are birth date, time of birth, location of birth and current date. Once the reader has all this information, there are a number of different ways in which a chart can be developed. For some, it is through an online program. Whereas, there are others whom use a number of different books and other resources to create a neo-natal chart.

The Sun, Moon, stars and planets all play a role in this type reading. In addition, the twelve spatial aspects of the sky often known as houses are often used in defining current and future events based on which houses planets are in at any given time.

The Hindu aspect of astrology is often considered the starting point of the process. For, a text known as Vedana Jytisha while first believed to be only related to astronomy was later found to have a connection to astrology. As such, the text along with others of the time are the first public texts related to the practice.

In the beginning, the Hellenistic aspects were the earliest known aspects. Since Hindu natal astrology is based on this method, it is often considered the birth point of astrology. In this particular form, readings are based Hindu lunar mansions and Greek zodiac symbols Kriya, Krios and others.

Chinese astrology and astronomy share a close link. For, both focus on the male and female, yin and yang as well as the three harmonies of earth, heaven and man. Whereas, other areas of focus in the form included ten celestial stems, time keeping and twelve earthly branches. As such, while not religious in nature, most are spiritual in one aspect or another.

Unlike astrology as it is known today, early Chinese astrology was very political in nature. In fact, most readings were in relation to political movements at the time. As such, the observation of days, events, decisions, identification of portents and unusual phenomena were all part of this early form.

In Eastern Asia, constellations and planets are not used as in other forms. For, in that area, there are three enclosures of the sky and twenty eight mansions which are believed to reside within the twelve aspects of Ci. As such, the well known animal signs known in Chinese astrology and the zodiac do not exist in the Eastern Asia forms.

Regardless of the style used, a number of individuals have found it gratifying to compare notes. For example, an individual might obtain a free online reading, then visit a consultant or reader to learn more about the details of the reading or vice versa. After which, the individual can compare the two readings, which in most cases will reveal an uncanny resemblance to one another.
